Quick start guide

Read about simple steps to begin building relationships

Welcome to Extrovert! This guide will help you get started in minutes.

Extrovert is a suggestion-first outreach tool for LinkedIn. AI monitors your prospects, suggests comments and DMs, and you approve before anything sends. Think of it as an outreach copilot: AI finds moments and drafts messages, you make the decisions.

You can also watch a video version of this guide.

1. First login: Your workspace is ready

When you first log in, Extrovert automatically pulls data from your LinkedIn account to set up your workspace. After a few moments, open Post feed in the left menu. That is the main place where all the action happens.

2. Understanding your feed

Opening Post feed lands you on your Main Feed. It mixes posts from every campaign on your LinkedIn account into one queue, so you work through everything in one pass instead of opening campaigns one by one. If you want to focus on a single campaign, pick its name in the scope selector at the top.

For each post, you'll see:

  • Post summary: Quick AI-generated overview of what the post is about

  • Suggested comment draft: AI-written comment ready for your review

You review three posts at a time and move through the feed with the Previous and Next arrows. Above the cards there are five tabs: Need approval, Skipped, Pending, Error and Posted.

Nothing gets posted without your approval. You're always in control. You can:

  • Regenerate the draft for different options

  • Use Improve draft to add specific points

  • Edit it manually

  • Approve when ready - it posts on your behalf to LinkedIn

That is how every campaign starts. Later you can switch a single campaign to Auto if you would rather have its comments published without review, inside a daily number and a time window you choose. It stays off until you choose it, and DMs are never sent automatically whatever a campaign is set to. See auto comments.

3. Your campaigns: Two engagement strategies

Extrovert creates two campaigns for you automatically:

Prospects campaign

Track specific people - your prospects, customers, or thought leaders. Comment on their posts, send connection requests, and get DM suggestions when it's time to reach out. We've added 5 people you recently engaged with to get you started.

Topics campaign

Track specific topics across LinkedIn. Join relevant discussions to build visibility. We've automatically populated topics based on your LinkedIn profile.

Think of campaigns as your engagement strategies. Some strategies track people, others track topics. You can manage all campaigns in the Campaigns section.

4. What can you do with Extrovert?

Extrovert is designed for specific use cases. Choose the one that matches your goal:

Warm up prospects before outreach

Comment on prospect posts 2-3 times, then connect and send DMs. Results in 2-5x better reply rates than cold outreach.

Build a creator support network

  • Use: Prospects campaign

5. Add your prospects

To get the most value, add people you care about to your Prospects campaign:

  1. Go to Campaign → Prospect list

  2. Click to add prospects

  3. Choose your import method:

    • Paste profile URLs

    • Recent connections

    • Sales Navigator search or saved list URL

    • LinkedIn search URL (no Sales Navigator needed)

    • CSV file upload

Organize prospects into lists for different groups: "Hot prospects", "Enterprise customers", "Thought leaders", etc.

6. DM suggestions

For Prospects campaigns, Extrovert can suggest DMs when it's time to reach out. You'll find them in the Recommended tab of the DMs page in the left sidebar.

You set the rules once per campaign and Extrovert applies them to every conversation:

  • First outreach: a first message once the prospect accepts your connection request, after a wait you choose (3 days by default)

  • Follow-ups: how long to wait before each follow-up if the prospect stays quiet, and how many to send before Extrovert stops

  • Sooner after a relevant post: when the prospect shares something you could open with, the next follow-up becomes due in half the usual time

Nothing is sent without your approval, and DMs are never sent automatically whatever a campaign is set to. You can send, improve the draft, regenerate it, or skip the conversation for a few days.

To enable DMs in your campaign: go to Campaigns, click a campaign, open the Outreach tab and turn on Direct messages.

7. Set up your voice (optional but recommended)

A voice is how the AI writes as you. We've created one from your LinkedIn profile, but filling it in properly is the single biggest thing you can do for draft quality. Go to Settings → Voice library and open it. It has three tabs.

Background: what you talk about

  • About you: your background and expertise

  • About your company: what your company does

Comments: how you comment

  • Comment tone: your tone, length preferences, emoji usage

  • Approved examples: real comments the AI learns from, with Auto-learn saving new ones as you edit and approve

  • Talking points: hot takes and industry observations worth bringing up

DMs: how you write privately

  • DM tone: how you want to sound in a private message, separate from comments

  • DM templates: example messages the AI can pick from and adapt

  • Selling points: the facts it may bring up, such as what you solve, results, and links

8. Choose which posts reach your feed (optional)

Each campaign decides which posts reach you, and in what order, on its Commenting tab. Go to Campaigns, click a campaign, and open Commenting. From the post feed you can also open the Filters editor for the same kind of adjustment without leaving the feed.

The settings worth knowing first:

  • Feed sorting strategy - which posts you are shown first

  • Post age limit - how recent a post has to be

  • Post categories - leave out categories such as politics or self promotion

  • Commenting pace per prospect - how long to wait before the same person comes back

  • Limit posts per prospect - stop one person from filling your feed

  • Filter by your custom topics - keep only posts that match the topics you care about

These settings save as you change them, so there is no Save button.

If you run several campaigns, you can also set how much space each one takes in your Main Feed with Campaign priority in Main Feed.

9. How posts are updated

Extrovert automatically checks for new posts every 24 hours for each prospect. You can see the last check time in your prospect list.

Need posts immediately? Open the post feed, use the ••• More actions menu and choose Check for new posts. It is available on all five tabs, both in Main Feed and inside a single campaign. You can run one extra check per hour.

10. Connect your LinkedIn account

For Extrovert to work, you need to connect your LinkedIn account. You have two options:

  • Chrome extension (recommended) - connects using your existing account session in Chrome. Fastest, no password entry

  • Email and password - use this if you're not on Chrome or you manage LinkedIn accounts for clients

Go to Settings → LinkedIn account and pick the method that fits. LinkedIn may ask you to confirm it's you with a push notification on the LinkedIn app, or a 6-digit code - just follow the prompt.

Safety by default:

  • Our Chrome extension is built to stay invisible to LinkedIn's extension-detection fingerprinting

  • The email+password path creates a fresh session from your selected country, so LinkedIn sees it as a normal sign-in from a different device

  • Nothing posts without your review and approval, unless you switch a campaign to Auto yourself

  • No accounts banned since launch

11. Add your team (optional)

When you're ready to bring your team to Extrovert:

  1. Go to Team section

  2. Invite team members

  3. Go to Campaign → Ownership and access

  4. Enable sharing access so they can comment on your behalf

☝️ Pro tip: Team members who don't connect their LinkedIn account (they just help manage campaigns) don't need a paid seat.

Your next steps
