Extrovert needs to connect to your professional network account before it can find posts, suggest comments, or send approved actions on your behalf. This guide explains both connection methods and what to do if verification appears.
Before you start
Make sure you can sign in to the professional network directly in a browser.
Keep your phone nearby in case the platform asks for verification.
If your account uses Google or Apple sign-in and you do not have a separate password, either use the Chrome extension method or create an account password first: How to connect an account created with Google / Apple ID.
Choose a connection method
You can connect in two ways:
Chrome extension — recommended if you use Chrome and are already signed in. It uses your existing browser session, so you do not need to type your account password into Extrovert.
Email & password — useful if you do not use Chrome, do not want to install the extension, or manage accounts for clients from the same browser.
Both methods are secure. Credentials and sessions are encrypted and are used only to keep the connected account working.
Method A — Chrome extension
Use this method if you are on Chrome and already signed in to the account you want Extrovert to use. The extension connects Extrovert using your existing browser session, so you do not type your account password into Extrovert.
First, install the extension. This takes about 2 minutes. In Extrovert, open Settings → Chrome extension. You will also be offered this automatically if you start connecting without the extension installed. Then follow the steps on that page:
Download the extension — click Download extension to save the .zip file to your computer. If Chrome flags it as "not commonly downloaded", that is a generic notice for new files, not a problem with this one. Click the ⋮ menu next to the download and choose Keep.
Unzip the file — on Windows, right-click it and choose Extract All. On Mac, double-click it. Keep the resulting folder somewhere you will not delete it later, for example Documents. Chrome runs the extension from this folder.
Open Chrome's extensions page — copy chrome://extensions, paste it into Chrome's address bar, and press Enter.
Turn on Developer mode — find the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner of the page and turn it on.
Load the extension — click Load unpacked and select the folder you unzipped in step 2. Extrovert detects the extension automatically, no refresh needed.
Once the extension is detected, click Connect to link your account. Select the country where you are physically located right now. This should match how you normally sign in, and if your exact country is not listed, choose the closest one in the same region. Then wait 5–30 seconds. If the platform asks you to verify, enter the code in Extrovert.
☝️ Not in the Chrome Web Store? Correct. Tools that connect to your professional-network account cannot be distributed through the Chrome Web Store, so you install it directly from Extrovert. It is the same official Extrovert extension. Do not delete the unzipped folder, since the extension loads from it, and Edge or Brave work too via edge://extensions or brave://extensions.
☝️ Keep that browser session active. The extension connects Extrovert using your current browser session on the professional network. If you later sign out of the professional network in that browser, or clear its cookies, the connection breaks and Extrovert keeps disconnecting. To avoid this, stay signed in to the professional network in that browser - or connect with email & password instead, which isn't tied to your browser session.
Is the extension safe to install?
Yes. The extension is built so your browser still looks like a normal user browser. It does not expose the files or extension patterns commonly used to identify automation tools.
Method B — Email and password
Use this method if you are not using Chrome, do not want to install the extension, or need to connect a client or managed account.
In Extrovert, open Settings → connected account.
Choose the email & password connection option.
Select the country where you are physically located right now. If your exact country is not listed, choose the closest country in the same region.
Enter the email and password you use to sign in to the professional network.
Click Connect.
Wait while Extrovert signs in. This usually takes 5–30 seconds.
Running campaigns for clients? This method is usually easier because you can connect multiple managed accounts without switching Chrome profiles.
If the platform asks for verification
The platform may ask to confirm that it is really you, especially during the first connection. Extrovert does not choose the verification method; it depends on the account's security settings.
Mobile app approval
The platform sends a push notification to your phone.
Open the mobile app and approve the sign-in request.
Return to Extrovert and wait for the connection to finish.
6-digit code
The platform sends a code by email, SMS, or authenticator app, depending on your account settings.
Enter the code in Extrovert.
Click Submit.
If the code does not arrive, request another one and check the delivery method configured on your account.
Not getting the push notification or code? See Fix 2FA issues.
What success looks like
When the connection works, Extrovert shows the connected profile card in Settings → connected account. You will see the profile name, profile photo, and a connected status. After that, you can start building campaigns.
If the connection fails
Wrong password — confirm that the same password works when signing in directly in a browser. If you normally use Google or Apple sign-in, create an account password first or use the Chrome extension method.
Verification failed or stuck on Processing — complete the verification directly in the browser or on your phone, then try again. If it still fails, follow the 2FA troubleshooting guide.
Extension does not detect your account session — make sure you are signed in to the professional network in the same Chrome profile where the Extrovert extension is installed, then reload Extrovert and try again.
Still stuck? Contact support with the connection method you tried and the exact error message you see.
