Extrovert needs to be connected to your LinkedIn account to work. This guide walks you through both connection methods, what to expect during verification, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Before you start
Make sure you can log into LinkedIn yourself right now (in any browser)
If you signed up for LinkedIn with Google or Apple ID and don't have a LinkedIn password yet, see π How to connect LinkedIn with Google / Apple ID β or skip straight to the Chrome extension method below
Have your phone handy in case LinkedIn asks for verification
Choose a connection method
You have two options:
Chrome extension (recommended) β connect using your existing LinkedIn session in Chrome. Fastest, no password entry.
Email & password β enter your LinkedIn email and password. Use this if you're not on Chrome, don't want to install an extension, or you manage LinkedIn accounts for clients (and you're logged into a different LinkedIn in your current browser).
βοΈ Pro tip: Both methods are equally secure. Your credentials are stored encrypted and are only used to keep your LinkedIn session alive.
Method A β Chrome extension
Available in Chrome only. Not available for sub-users on team plans.
In Extrovert, go to Settings β LinkedIn account
Click Or connect with browser extension β (selected by default)
Click Install from Chrome Web Store, then Add to Chrome
Once the extension is installed, you will see the following:
In Select your location, pick the country you're physically in right now. This keeps your sign-in consistent with how you normally use LinkedIn, which helps LinkedIn trust the connection
Don't see your country? Pick the nearest one in the same region β for example, choose a neighboring country, or the closest major country on the same
Click Connect
You'll see a Processing spinner while we log in. This usually takes 5β30 seconds
Is the extension safe to install?
Yes β and this is something worth knowing if you've heard LinkedIn can detect third-party extensions.
LinkedIn maintains a database of thousands of known automation extensions and uses a fingerprinting technique to detect them: their page scripts quietly check for specific files that those extensions expose. If a match shows up, LinkedIn knows the extension is installed.
The Extrovert extension is built differently β it doesn't expose the files and patterns LinkedIn looks for, so that fingerprinting mechanism doesn't see it. From LinkedIn's side, your browser looks like a normal user browser. That's why we can recommend this method as the default.
Method B β Credentials (email + password)
In Extrovert, go to Settings β LinkedIn account
Click Or connect with email & password β
In Select your location, pick the country you're physically in right now. This keeps your sign-in consistent with how you normally use LinkedIn, which helps LinkedIn trust the connection
Don't see your country? Pick the nearest one in the same region β for example, choose a neighboring country, or the closest major country on the same continent
Enter the email and password you use to sign into LinkedIn
Click Connect
You'll see a Processing spinner while we log in. This usually takes 5β30 seconds
βοΈ Pro tip: Running campaigns for clients? Use this method β you can connect several LinkedIn accounts from the same browser without juggling Chrome profiles or logging in and out.
If LinkedIn asks for verification
LinkedIn often asks to confirm it's really you, especially on a first connection. LinkedIn (not Extrovert) decides which verification method to use based on your LinkedIn 2FA settings. You'll see one of two screens:
Mobile app approval
LinkedIn sends a push notification to your phone
Open the LinkedIn app and tap Yes, it's me on the sign-in request
Extrovert will continue on its own β you don't need to do anything else here
βοΈ Pro tip: Not getting the push? Check your LinkedIn mobile app notifications are turned on, or see π Fix LinkedIn 2FA issues.
6-digit code
You'll see this if your LinkedIn 2FA is set to email, SMS, or an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, etc.) β or if you don't have the LinkedIn mobile app set up.
LinkedIn sends a 6-digit code to your email or phone
Enter the code in Extrovert and click Submit
Didn't get it? Click Request another code. You can resend up to a few times before the request is blocked
What success looks like
When the connection works, you'll see your LinkedIn profile card β your name, photo, and a green "Connected" status in Settings. From here you can start building your first campaign.
If the connection fails
"Wrong password" β double-check you can log into LinkedIn directly in a browser using the same password. If your account uses Google / Apple sign-in, you'll need to π create a LinkedIn password first β or use the Chrome extension method instead
"Verification failed" or stuck on Processing β see π Fix LinkedIn 2FA issues
Extension not detecting your LinkedIn session β make sure you're logged into LinkedIn in the same Chrome profile as the Extrovert extension, then reload the page
