Account Setup: what Extrovert prepares when you sign up

Why a new account already has a Voice, a topic campaign and an outreach campaign, what the automatic setup does with your LinkedIn profile URL, why the campaigns are off, and what to do when setup finishes, is paused or fails.

A new Extrovert account is not empty. Right after you sign up, Extrovert reads your public LinkedIn profile and prepares a starting setup for you: a Voice, a topic campaign and an outreach campaign with a first batch of prospects. It takes a few minutes and runs on its own. Both campaigns are created switched off, so nothing is posted or sent until you decide.

Where: the Account Setup entry in the left menu while setup is running or has a result to show. Once you close the result, the entry disappears and everything it created lives in the usual places: Campaigns and Settings.

What you enter at sign-up

Sign-up has two steps. First your name, email and password. Then Your LinkedIn profile URL, which is required. Use your personal profile, not a company page or a post. If you are not sure what your URL is, the Find my URL link next to the field shows where to copy it from.

Entering the URL does not connect your LinkedIn account and grants no access to it. Extrovert only reads the public details of the profile to understand who you are, where you work and what you offer. Connecting the account is a separate step you take later, when you are ready to comment and message. See how to connect your LinkedIn account to Extrovert.

Setup starts immediately, before you confirm your email, and keeps running if you close the window or the browser.

What gets prepared

The setup window lists three items and shows which one it is working on.

  • Voice. The instructions the AI uses to write your comments and messages. Extrovert fills in who you are and what your company does from your profile, describes your comment style from comments you have written, and pulls talking points from your own posts of the last year. Where it does not have reliable material, it leaves the field empty rather than inventing something. An existing Voice is never overwritten.

  • Topic campaign. One topic chosen from your work and expertise, broad enough to cover the discussions your buyers take part in. The campaign collects posts on that topic from anyone on LinkedIn, so you can comment where your market is talking.

  • Outreach campaign. Extrovert works out who your buyers are, tests that hypothesis against the same B2B database Lead Finder uses, and adds up to 100 matching people to a new campaign. This does not spend any credits. If the audience it can confirm is smaller, it adds fewer rather than padding the list with random people.

The campaigns come with sensible starting settings. The outreach campaign comments on each person at most once every 7 days, has direct messages switched on with a first message after they connect and up to 3 follow-ups at 3, 7 and 14 days, and keeps connection requests and the comment warm-up off. The topic campaign only looks at posts up to 3 days old. Both skip posts that are extra sensitive, political, engagement bait or off-topic. You can change all of it in the campaign settings, and your changes are kept.

While it runs

The window says setup takes about three minutes. You can watch the short video in it, or close it and look around. The menu entry shows In progress until the result is ready. Nothing else is needed from you.

If the profile URL cannot be used, setup pauses and the menu entry says Needs your LinkedIn URL. Open it, check the URL in the Check your LinkedIn profile URL window and save. Setup continues from where it stopped. This is the only correction setup ever asks for. A temporary problem reading the profile does not count as a wrong URL, so if you are sure the URL is right, wait for the result instead of changing it.

That window also lets you skip setup permanently. Anything already prepared stays in your account, and Extrovert stops asking for the URL.

The result

When setup finishes, the result opens once on its own, or waits under View result in the menu if you were away. It shows what was created for each of the three items and how many prospects were added. The title tells you how it went: Account setup complete, Set up within your limits when the workspace's prospect or topic limit held part of it back, We set up what we could when one part failed, No prospects or topics found yet when setup found no one and no topic to add, or Setup couldn't finish.

Under Next steps the result points you to what is worth doing now: connect your LinkedIn account if you have not yet, open your feed and approve a few comments, and use Ask AI to fine-tune the Voice and the campaigns. The in-app assistant knows what setup prepared and can adjust it in a conversation. You can also connect Claude or ChatGPT through MCP and do the same from there.

Closing the result removes the Account Setup entry. Setup does not run again. From here on you work with the campaigns, prospects and Voice the normal way: rename them, change settings, add or remove people, or delete what you do not want.

Starting the campaigns

Both campaigns are off on purpose. To start using them:

  1. Connect your LinkedIn account, if you have not done it at sign-up.

  2. Open Campaigns, look through the prospects and the topic, and switch each campaign on when you are happy with it.

  3. The first posts appear in your feed within minutes. Review the drafts and approve the ones you like.

If the setup result said your limits capped part of it, the prospects that did not fit were simply not added. Free up room or raise the limit and add more through Lead Finder later. See how prospect limits work.

Who gets automatic setup

Every new account owner, and every new team member invited with the right to connect LinkedIn, gets it once for their own account. Members invited without LinkedIn access and managed accounts do not. An existing user who accepts an invitation to another team does not get a second setup.
