Will the AI sound like me?

What the AI uses to write as you, how comment and DM tone are set up separately, and how the drafts get closer to your writing over time.

Written by Denis Bauer

Yes, once you tell it who you are. Extrovert writes every comment and DM with a voice - a set of instructions and material you fill in about your background, how you talk, and what you can bring up. Fill it in properly and the drafts stop reading like anyone.

What the AI draws on

A voice has three parts, and each one feeds the drafts differently:

  • Background - facts about you and your company. Used for both comments and DMs.

  • Comments - how your comments should sound, real comments of yours it can mimic, and the talking points it can weave in.

  • DMs - how your messages should sound, example messages it can adapt, and the selling points it can bring up.

On top of that, every draft responds to what's actually in front of it: the post, the prospect's profile and recent activity, and your conversation history. The voice shapes the answer, it doesn't replace it.

Comments and DMs sound different, on purpose

You write a public comment differently than a private message, so the two channels are set up separately:

  • Comment tone - how you sound in public: tone, length, punctuation, emoji use

  • DM tone - how you sound one to one, usually shorter and more direct

You can also keep more than one voice and point different campaigns at different ones - a formal voice for enterprise prospects, a casual one for peers. See How voices work.

It gets better as you use it

Leave Auto-learn on and every comment you edit and approve is saved as an example, so the AI keeps moving toward how you actually write. Most people find drafts need only small edits after the first few days.
