Why does my account show a sign-in from another country?

A sign-in alert from an unexpected country is expected and safe. Why it happens and how to control the location.

Shortly after you connect your account to Extrovert, the professional network may show a security alert about a new sign-in from a country or city that isn't yours.

This is expected, and your account is safe.

Why it happens

Extrovert keeps a secure cloud session with your connected account so it can work for you around the clock. That session runs from a fixed cloud location, and this location can differ from where you live. The alert simply shows that location. It doesn't mean anyone else accessed your account.

What to do

Nothing is required. If the alert asks you to confirm it was you, confirm it.

One thing to avoid: don't reset your account password in response to this alert. If you do change it, just reconnect your account to Extrovert afterwards so the session stays active.

Pick the location yourself

When connecting your account, you choose "Your location". The session then runs from that country, so alerts match what you expect. If your exact country isn't listed, pick the closest one.

Use your own proxy

If you need full control over the IP address your session uses, turn on "Use your own proxy" when connecting and enter your proxy details. You can check what you're using anytime in the Proxy settings, which show either "Extrovert built-in proxy" or "Custom proxy", with an "Edit proxy" option to switch.

Still unsure?

If you see sign-in activity that doesn't look related to Extrovert, reach out to us in the chat and we'll check it together.
